Muscle strain

This happens when a muscle suffers a pull. The main symptoms are pain, difficulty moving the knee, swelling and redness of the skin. In general, with rest, ice and keeping the knee in an elevated position, you can feel a recovery. If the pain does not subside, then it is advisable to consult a specialist.

Sprain

This injury occurs when the ligaments are stretched too much or torn, either by a twist or an excess of traction. The symptoms that appear are pain, swelling and instability when walking. The treatment varies according to the degree of the sprain, and can range from rest and immobilization, to surgery if the ligament has been completely torn.

Meniscus injuries

The symptoms of meniscus injury are usually pain, stiffness and inability to move the joint normally. The treatment in minor injuries is bandaging the area, apply ice and rest, however in severe cases surgery is recommended.

Ligament rupture

It is one of the most common in athletes, manifested with a very sharp pain and inflammation, coming to be heard a snap. The treatment includes resting and then going to physiotherapy. In more severe cases, surgery may be the best option.
